abortions and the post hoc fallacy

1/14/2013

Here is the first video-lesson for the semester (week of 1.21-1.25).

I think the video brought up a critical thinking point that I had never heard of in the fight about abortion. I think as a woman I feel it's my constitutional right to be able to get an abortion if I so please because church and state are supposed to be separate.

I thought of this video clip was quit unique. However, some of the statements that were brought to; I can't say I completely believe with them. Abortion is a huge choice to make and people really shouldn't be aloud to choose this on they own. They would be taking away a child's life that could have been prevented. There's people out there everyday who fight for their lives and your not even giving someone that chance to prove themselves worthy, just isn't justice.

I think that the author used some really good points from describing Normative economics with examples of Positive economics. At the same time, I think I personally have more of a biased view on Abortion, because I think it's something that I would have to experience first hand before I could make my final judgement. Being in college and living the life I currently live and enjoy, I wouldn't be able to continue living this with the addition of a kid. Chances are if you're having the thought of abortion there's a good chance the parents are young and can't support themselves, and that will just put stress on both the parents and the kid. I wish there was a way for both man and woman to have a deciding factor, however the woman has to deal with and carry it around for 9 months. I feel like if the father doesn't want to have the kid and the mother goes through with the birth, then there's a good chance that the kid will grow up with a unstable family and father who didn't care about the kid to start with (if he's even there.) That brings me to the next point on how I feel if kids are going to be raised in an environment that is going to be less supportive that what it could be, (having 2 parents compared to just a mother) then it might be better off just not having the kid in the first place. This kid is likely to be raised with no attention and that's a quick and easy way for kids to get mental issues. If someone has nothing to live for, no dreams to make into reality, no motivation in life, then he/she has nothing to lose... This is a common type of person who feeds off the government, steals, kills, and once caught its revealed how emotionally unstable he/she is. I feel that if both parents don't want to have the kid then it might be best to just have an abortion, because if you don't take his life then he's going to be the type of person to take someone elses.
